WGYWB November/December

We wrapped up a year of birthday celebrations by honoring the November & December birthday peeps last Sunday evening at our house.  We had a great time getting to know one another better and eating some Christmas goodies.  It's been fun celebrating the days you were born this past year!  Watch for a new theme of get-togethers for the coming year.

Family Traditions

Last year I asked what everyone's favorite Christmas traditions were. Here are the responses from last year, Family Traditions and Family Traditions Part 2. I'd love to hear more! Email them to nlccblog@yahoo.com.

A newer, New Life Christmas tradition is our Candles and Carols service. Please join us this Sunday at 6p.m.!

--------------------------------
The Frye Family-

On Christmas Eve, we go to my parents' house and make a special dinner, then we open gifts with my mom and dad and then we sit by the tree and drink hot cocoa and tell stories of Christmases past. Then Shane, Cameron and I go to our house to open gifts and sit by the lit tree and tell the story of Jesus' birth.

Thank you from the Crumps

(My apologies in posting this late! This came from the Crump family after our Wednesday evening farewell a couple of weeks ago.)

New Life Community Church,

Thank you so much for the reception, gifts and love that you showered on us Wednesday evening! We love you all very much and will continue to carry New Life in our hearts for many years to come! God has used all of you to help mold and shape us into the people that He can use in this new assignment at Mooresville. We look forward to what God is going to do at New Life and in each of your lives! The Apostle Paul’s words come to mind, “I thank my God every time I remember you…”! And the Crump family thanks God for all of you! Come visit us in Mooresville!

With much love,

John, Michelle
Molly, Aaron & Abby

Tiny Shepherds

On a typical week in the Wiggle Way classroom (2 and 3 year olds), we have around 7 two-year-old boys and one pretty, pink princess. Needless to say, the energy is high! What a joy it is to wrangle and teach these tiny little lights.

Here they are learning what it meant for David to be a shepherd. It was one of the cutest little scenes I (Jenessa) have ever seen. They were given "staffs" made out of construction paper and told to shoo the little "sheep" (cotton balls) into the "pen." They got right to work!
All of the lost sheep were found! =) And they were so excited!
They learned God can use them just as they are, and I just know He will!

And then - we did trains. =) My personal challenge is to construct a biblical lesson involving trains. Now that's something that would keep their attention.

A Poem from Darlene

Darlene Spear wrote this years ago while going through a faith-trying time in her life. I thought it was beautiful and wanted to share it with you. Thank you Darlene.

If your son were asking for a piece of bread,
would you give him a stone?
If he smiled at you, threw his arms open wide,
would you leave him alone?
If we then being evil, know how to give good gifts to our sons,
How much more does our heavenly father love His chosen ones.
If your child ran away from the safety of home,
could you find any rest?
No, you would search all around until your lost had been found,
you would do your best.
Jesus tenderly searches for His sheep that's gone astray.
Just like a loving shepherd He wants to bring you back home to stay.
I am just one of His children and forever I'll be.
Just one of His children through all eternity.
For I've been purchased, I've been bought with His blood.
I am just one of His children and forever I'm loved.

Wednesday Night Fun

Here's some happy faces from our Wednesday nights!

Church Family

I want to say "Thank you" to Dianne White and all the beautiful ladies that celebrated with me Monday night. It was a really fun surprise! I was humbled and encouraged by the show of love and friendship. We need each other! I need you! To me, what happened Monday night is the church family in action as it should be: rejoicing with those who rejoice, weeping with those who weep. That way, we won't feel alone in our circumstances, but will walk confidently, arm in arm. I want to do that for my church family, too.

So thank you, New Life ladies (including those who couldn't come). I love you! In Christ, Mimi

Miracle Watch

One of the two adult classes being offered on Wednesday evenings is taking a look at some of the miracles of Jesus. The group was challenged by Andy Denniston to be on "Miracle Watch" throughout the next few weeks and to report what they find. Tonight, Jim and Nancy Dalton brought in these gorgeous flowers from their garden. They are indeed a perfect example of one of God's many miracles, and as Jim noted, some of them start as a seed smaller than a grain of salt. He said sometimes seeds similar to these will lie dormant in a dessert region for more than 100 years. When the right amount of rain falls, the dessert becomes covered with beautiful blooms such as these. Miraculous!

Praise God for his miracles all around us, and join us in watching Him work.
