Don't forget -starting Sunday, September 9th, we will be moving to one service at 10:30a.m. Also, for those interested, a group will meet at 9a.m. to discuss "Being a Contagious Christian" by John Ortberg. There's a sign-up sheet at the welcome center. The cost is $25.00/couple and $18.00/individual and childcare will be provided.
September 9th is also our fall kick-off! After morning worship, we'll have our second annual "Heavenly Dogs" lunch so everyone come hungry. You've never had a hot dog as gourmet as this before! There are so many exciting, exciting things happening. This will be a chance to hear more and join in.

NLCC Steering Committee Meeting 8/22
The Steering Committee met tonight with a full agenda on the docket. Here are some of the items that we discussed:
- Block Party Breakdown - who came, who wants to learn more about the church, how did it go
- Church Sign - we're having some discussions with a guy that is offering to design and help us build a new church sign. We're still in the early stages, but we think we could do it for a good price and have a great new look. More to come...
- Preliminary discussions about forming the nomination committee, which will be the group who nominates new SC members for 2008. SC members who are finishing terms are Joe Davis, Andy Denniston and Paul Daniels
- Brief discussion and education about the web site (still in progress...) and the new NLCC Blog
- Discussion about classroom space, rearrangement of age groups, possibility of portable units, etc.
- Discussion of fall sermon series and events...
- Discussions on the 2008 budget.
- Pastor John K. shared his heart and his developing vision of the church
Much more will be shared about these items in the near future. Stay tuned for an announcement about when this will take place.

Pulse Festival Rocks New Lifers!
Saturday, 19 of us went to South Bend, IN, to the LeSEA Broadcasting grounds for a Christian concert bonanza! It was a cool, cloudy day filled with great music from some great Christian bands: Krystal Meyers, Superchic[k], Kutless, Sanctus Real, Third Day and Michael W. Smith. The highlight for me was the worship time with Third Day. The first thing Mac Powell (their lead singer) did when he came out on stage was to ask us to all lift our hands as he prayed for Jesus to be lifted up in our praise and singing. Awesome!
Of course, since we hadn't been there before, our fearless leader (Mimi) got us a little lost on the way there and we almost crossed the Michigan border, but God is good and after stopping to ask directions, we found our way there eventually. Then because we were late we ended up "camping out" on the pavement behind a dumpster. There were a lot of peeps there!! We took a lot of mental notes for our excursion next year - live and learn. The teens with us couldn't have been better behaved or more responsible. It was a fun day for everyone. I want to thank my fellow adult concert-goers: Susan Hunt, Michelle Crump and Linda Witham. Here are some pictures from our experience at "World Pulse Festival" 2007.

Kerr Update
Michelle & I are on Kauai in Hawaii and safe. We survived a 5.3 earthquake at Kona on the big island of Hawaii on Monday and now the winds of Hurricane Flossie. My brother called earlier today to advise me of a tsunami warning here as a result of the earthquake in Peru. Then he called back to tell us that the tsunami warning was cancelled. I am reading Tony Dungy's book "Quiet Strength" and it is truly an inspiration to trust in the Lord. God Bless. Back in a couple weeks.

Let's Help Each Other
A fantastic suggestion came in as a possible use for the blog. If any one has a need that our church family may be able to help with, feel free to email the need to nlccblog@yahoo.com and we'll get it posted right away. Examples would be baby-sitting needs, transportation to and from somewhere, supplies for a class, a cup of sugar, anything! You can also give the church a call and one of the pastors can post a need. Let's come together and help each other, no matter how small or great the need may be.

Prayer Room
The Prayer Room/Cry Room is coming along! The white walls are gone and a fresh coat of paint was added today. Slowly but surely it's coming together. The second coat and clean-up are yet to come, so please help keep little ones out of there this coming Sunday. Feel free to peek though! Steps to come in the future include getting some pictures on the walls, hopefully a wall shelf to hold a few books and Bibles, possibly a kneeling bench, and a place to post prayer requests and praises. Exciting!
